DNF at WMMP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 16, 2008

The White Moubrain 150 was finally run at White Mountain Motorsports Park located in North Woodstock, NH, on Saturday, August 16, but unfortunately Ricky Wolf recorded a DNF in his first stop on the track in the ACT.

Ricky recalls the events of the weekend...

"The twice previously rained out ACT White Mountain 150 finally occurred at White Mountain Motorsports Park located in North Woodstock, NH, on Saturday, August 16. The first round of qualifying was completed on June 28th, and we had dug ourselves a big hole. We started dead last in the second of two Consolation races, and had to be in the top 4 at the end of
the 12 lap race to secure a spot in the 150 lap feature. We improved our track position, finishing seventh, but were now facing the Last Chance "B" Feature, which took only the top 3 finishers, plus two additional ACT provisional starting spots.

Despite a steadily improving car all day, we fell short of the top 3, finishing 5th, but were awarded the first ACT provisional, and started 29th of 30 cars on the grid. We knew our poor track position at the start of the race could hurt us if we did not get a few early cautions, and that is exactly what happened. The first 95+ laps were run under green flag conditions, and when the first caution flag finally did fall, we were one lap down to the leaders, but had raced our way all the way up to just outside the top 15 in approximately 17th place.

Contact on the front stretch around lap 110 found us slapping the right front of our car against the wall hard, ultimately ending our night. The crew did a great job getting the car back out, but we could not maintain pace with the field, and parked the car around lap 120, ending what looked to be a potential top 15 run.

I am proud of the guys for stepping up the way they did and pitching in to help dig us out of the hole we created for ourselves during the first round of qualifying back on June 28th. The competition on the Tour is second to none, and although our results have not shown it lately, we have had solid top 15 cars at the last few points races. We will continue to dig, and hopefully the efforts will soon pay off for the team."
